Coaching Staff

Blake Olson has served as head coach of Strawberry Crest High School and Top Gun Wrestling Academy since the 2018-2019 season.

Coach Blake wrestled collegiately at North Central College and was a three-year starter for the Cardinals at the 157 pound weight class. During his career, he was a three-time place winner at the North Central Invitational, Parkside Open, and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships, as well as a 2015 Pete Wilson Invitational place winner. He was honored as the CCIW Wrestler of the Week in January 2015 by earning three pins in three matches at the UW Whitewater Duals and was a 2015 NCAA Scholar All-American, and ranked as high as ninth nationally as an individual. Blake was also a two-year captain at North Central and contributed to two NCAA top ten finishes.

As a high school competitor, Blake was a three time state qualifier for Wilmington High School, earning all-state honors his senior year with a third place finish. A two-year captain for Wilmington, Blake contributed to two team state championships in 2008 and 2009, a fourth place finish in 2010, and a qualifying berth in 2011. He was also a three time AAU All American, 2009 NHSCA Virginia Beach Nationals All American, 2010 Midwest National Champion, and 2011 Folkstyle National Champion.

Prior to his arrival at Strawberry Crest and Top Gun, Blake served as assistant coach at the NCAA level at Millikin University during the 2017-2018 season where the team had three wrestlers earn NCAA All-American honors by placing at nationals, including a national runner-up. He also coached the Wilmington High School and Wilmington Middle School teams in 2016-2017, volunteered as a coach at Hammer Wrestling Club, owns an undefeated 4-0 MMA record, and was a grappling coach at Genesis MMA.
